The Ambition Sailing Team
The business was formed in 2000 and is based in Southampton (UK). Ambition Sailing are proud of our team of dedicated and friendly RYA instructors and skippers. They share our values have great strengths as individuals and we believe that they are the best in the business.
The Principal, Dave Irwin, is an RYA Yachtmaster Instructor and he has been sailing for more than 20 years. As a Chartered Engineer his professional background is project and business risk management in the aerospace and marine sectors, useful experience to ensure the highest standard is achieved for all Ambition Sailing activities. A northerner by birth, Dave has enjoyed an association with the Solent area since his university days and has also sailed extensively in the Mediterranean and Caribbean. He is noted for his dry northern wit, patient but no nonsense training style, and his enthusiasm to encourage others.
Our skippers are all English speaking RYA instructors and all are carefully selected. They have other professional interests beyond sailing and we firmly believe that their professional backgrounds produce more rounded and motivated individuals, capable of delivering a more professional service. Many of our skippers have formal experience of facilitation, team building and teaching in corporate environments
