RYA Advanced Powerboat Course

Weekend or weekday RYA training courses, based in the Solent and starting from Shamrock Quay, Southampton.

These 2 day (plus one night) courses are for leisure and professional boaters wanting to undertake more adventurous trips.

The RYA Advanced Powerboat course includes navigation by day and night, weather and other aspects of skippering a small boat on more challenging passages in coastal waters.

The syllabus covers preparation for sea, boat handling, passage making and responsibility as skipper, pilotage, meteorology, rules of the road, use of engines, emergency situations, night cruising

Students undertaking this course must have the practical skills of the Intermediate course and knowledge of navigation to at least the standard of the Day Skipper shorebased course.

An RYA Advanced Powerboat certificate is awarded for successful completion of the course.

The Details

Prices are from £295 per person and include packed lunches for each day, fuel, mooring fees and use of classroom.

The instructor for your course will be a fully qualified RYA Advanced Powerboat Instructor.

Courses run with a maximum student to instructor ratio (maximum 3:1). If you prefer the course to be run for just you and maybe your partner or friend this is also possible - call us for our private instruction rates.

The Advanced level powerboat training courses are conducted on a Solent Rib 6.5m h1Eau, which has a 115hp single engine. It is fully equipped with relevant safety equipment and navigation electronics (radar, chart plotter, gps) to enhance your learning and enjoyment.
