RYA Powerboat Level 2

Weekend or weekday RYA training courses, based in the Solent and starting from Shamrock Quay, Southampton.

These 2 day courses provide ‘a complete’ introduction  to powerboating. There are no prerequisites, simply come along., learn new skills and enjoy the experience.

The RYA Powerboat Level 2 course ìntroduces skills and background knowledge needed to drive a powerboat and is the basis of the International Certificate of Competence. The level 2 syllabus includes close quarters handling, high speed manoeuvres, man overboard recovery and collision regulations.

An RYA Level 2 Powerboat certificate is awarded for successful completion of the course and the student automatically qualifies for the International Certificate of Competence which is mandatory for using powerboats in Europe.

The Details

Prices are from £255 per person and include packed lunches for each day, fuel, mooring fees and use of classroom.

Courses run with a maximum student to instructor ratio (maximum 3:1). If you prefer the course to be run for just you and maybe your partner or friend this is also possible - call us for our private instruction rates.

The instructor for your course will be a fully qualified RYA Powerboat Instructor or Advanced Instructor.

The powerboat training courses are conducted on a Solent Rib 6.5m h1Eau, which has a 115hp single engine. It is fully equipped with relevant safety equipment and navigation electronics (radar, chart plotter, gps) to enhance your learning and enjoyment

On successful completion of the course, you should be self-sufficient in the right conditions, aware of your own limitations and those of your craft.

The next step is to gain more experience and then to consider the RYA Intermediate Powerboat Course
