Conventional Yachtmaster Exam Prep or Fast Track Training?

• Reasons for qualifying as a RYA  Yachtmaster (Offshore or Coastal) may vary. It may be a natural progression as you develop experience or you may have sailed for a long time and wish to baseline your experience, or perhaps you intend working commercially.

• Alternatively you may be relatively new to sailing and want to progress quickly during a career break or qualify in the shortest possible time to change career

• Either way, you need to pass the RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Offshore (or Coastal) exam to operate commercially in the UK

• If you wish to build experience gradually prior to taking the exam, Ambition Sailing can prepare you for the exam. We have a unique approach which is tailored to individual needs. The high quality of our exam candidates has long been recognised by RYA examiners.

For the RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Coastal & Offshore examinations, Ambition Sailing ensures thorough preparation by providing intensive practical and theory training. We operate a four-stage process as shown

Discuss Individual Needs	Identification of individual training needs and the production of a personal preparation plan.
Shorebased Preparation  (Optional)	Depending on individual needs, clients may review some, or the entire shorebased syllabus at one of our shorebased training locations.  One weekend is usually adequate.
Practical Preparation	Either conducted as part of one of our RYA practical training courses or as own boat tuition. Involves rigorous preparation covering navigation, pilotage, mooring, anchoring and manoeuvring under sail and power. We will ensure that you have ample opportunity to practice all necessary competencies such as blind navigation, pile mooring, and night pilotage. Typically 4 days practical training is required.
RYA / MCA Examination	We recommend that exam preparation is followed immediately by the MCA exam, which we are happy to arrange on your behalf. This usually lasts from 24-48 hours depending on the number of candidates.

Fast Track Courses

Ambition Sailing do not offer Fast Track routes to Yachtmaster Coastal or Offshore qualification. However, we are happy to recommend organizations in the UK and abroad, with the same ethos as ourselves, that provide this approach.
